Background

The township of Strathalbyn, south-east of Adelaide, is serviced by a Community Wastewater Management System (CWMS). Wastewater is collected through a network of gravity drains and pumped to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Treated water is then stored in a 120 ML polyethylene-lined storage lagoon and used for irrigation.

To address the town’s growing needs, Alexandrina Council identified that the existing lagoon’s capacity was inadequate for the annual water storage variation. Leed constructed a new 110 ML recycled water storage lagoon, providing additional balancing storage to meet future demands. Alongside the lagoon, operational upgrades were implemented to improve the treatment plant’s overall functionality.

This project reinforces Leed’s commitment to delivering infrastructure solutions that meet the needs of local communities while supporting sustainable water management practices.
