Background and milestones

The Angle Vale Stage 1 Water project was designed to increase the network and water storage capacity of Adelaide’s Metro North supply system, delivering 1,400 water lots to support residential growth through the city’s northern suburbs.

This project was the first to start construction under SA Water’s Pipeline Partner Delivery Program. It initially focused on nightworks to minimise disruption during the installation of DN1000 MSCL pipes. The team later transitioned to dayworks, including pipelaying through built-up residential streets.

Milestones have included weekend works to construct the Main North Road pipeline crossing, the installation of the MicroTunnel under the Gawler Rail Line, and installing the crossing for an existing creek on Stebonheath Rd.

Scope

Project scope includes:

·       850m of DN750 MSCL pipe
·       3700m of DN1000 MSCL pipe
·       Scour chambers and inline valve sets
·       Hydrotesting and commissioning of the pipeline

Collaboration

Leed has worked alongside SA Water, WSP in Australia, and Gould Thorpe Planning Pty Ltd (GTP) as part of delivering the largest expansion of SA Water’s metropolitan water and wastewater network in decades. This critical infrastructure will support housing growth across Adelaide’s northern suburbs.

Leed also collaborated with local specialist subcontractors — including SA-owned and operated Reimann Manufacturing Pty Ltd, who have delivered the pipe welding work. The project was a good case-study for providing opportunities for local businesses to deliver local infrastructure.
