Background

Puddledock Dam is a backup water supply to the city of Armidale. Together with Armidale Regional Council Leed installed 12km of pipeline and constructed a booster pump station, connecting Puddledock Dam to the Armidale Water Treatment Plant. The pipeline provides a reliable alternative water supply if the existing pump statations and pipelines were to fail.

Scope

Our team utilised Leed-owned plant, including excavators, bulldozers, and graders, to clear the path and installed the pipe using a 955 Vermeer trencher and excavators. Leed and Armidale Council worked alongside local Indigenous groups to preserve culturally significant areas and conducted Indigenous Heritage Monitoring, uncovering artifacts such as scar trees (native trees with sections of bark removed for various reasons, including building canoes or containers, spiritual reasons, and to build temporary shelters).
