  • Design and Construct

Background

The Carcoar Water Treatment Plant upgrade included the design, construction, and commissioning of a new 12ML Potable Water Tank to assist in managing drought conditions in the region.

The upgrade works were undertaken within an existing water treatment plant, which was required to remain operational at all times during construction. Our works included inlet, outlet, and overflow pipework, stormwater management, and commissioning and testing.

During excavation of the inlet outlet pipework we encountered unsuitable ground conditions where the tank was intended for construction, presenting a risk regarding the long-term stability of the tank. This was addressed by excavating the unsuitable material which was reused elsewhere on site, and importing more suitable product which was compacted to create a new load transfer platform.

Outcomes

During the excavation of the inlet-outlet pipework, we encountered unsuitable ground conditions where the tank was intended for construction, presenting a risk regarding its long-term stability. This was addressed by excavating the unsuitable material, which was reused elsewhere on site, and importing a more suitable product, which was compacted to create a new load transfer platform.
