Driving STEM Opportunities

02 February 2026

Students from around the Snowy Monaro region recently had a hands-on look at what a future in construction could look like — and even climbed into the driver’s seat.

Our Leed team was proud to take part in the STEM Industry Partnerships Careers Day hosted by Cooma North Public School, where we showcased a couple of our construction machines, including one of our impressive 6-tonne excavators.

The event brought together schools from around the region and gave students the chance to hear directly from our team about the range of careers available in construction. Importantly, it showed how skills developed through STEM learning can turn into real-world opportunities on worksites like ours.

One of the highlights for many students was climbing inside the cabin of a large construction machine — an experience that just might spark a future career path.

At Leed, we’re passionate about connecting with the communities where we work and introducing people of all ages to the possibilities within our industry. Who knows, some of the students we met in Cooma may one day find themselves behind the controls on one of our worksites.
