We proudly joined our project partners to celebrate the Lake Hawdon North project winning two industry awards recently.
The project, a collaboration with the Department for Environment and Water, Tonkin, and the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water took home an Australian Water Association SA Water Awards, and an IPWEA SA Award.
This project aimed to improve the health of one of the largest wetland systems in the Limestone Coast region, spanning 2475ha. It will improve the availability and quality of habitat for a range of endangered migratory and non-migratory shorebird species.
Our role as head contractor included constructing a new regulator, which controls water levels in the wetland. We also created a rock ramp fishway and associated exit structures to provide safe passage for native fish around the new regulator structure.
We were also pleased to attend the recent official opening of the Lake Hawdon North regulator alongside our valued partners, and hear about the positive environmental impacts that are already occurring.
The project is part of the Healthy Coorong, Healthy Basin program, jointly funded by the Australian Government and the Government of South Australia.
