Our teams came together recently to recognise two important initiatives – MATES in Construction Fly the Flag Week and R U OK? Day.
We know that in the workplace, especially in construction, people are often more likely to put on a positive front while hiding what they’re really going through. That’s why it’s so important to keep an eye on your mates and find a moment to have an honest conversation – even when it feels hard.
Our teams marked the week with events on site, in offices and with gifted goodie bags, each filled with intentional items, including Lifesavers, serving as a reminder that listening and connecting can truly be lifesaving.
Through MATES research, we know that every year, 190 Australians working in the construction industry take their own lives – that’s one worker every second day. A heartbreaking statistic that reminds us why initiatives like these matter.
