We’re committed to engineering solutions that not only deliver infrastructure but also protect the environments where we work.
We’re proud to have supported Snowy Hydro in protecting one of Australia’s most vulnerable native fish species through the construction of a new fish barrier at Tantangara Creek in Kosciuszko National Park, New South Wales.
The critically endangered Stocky Galaxias survives in only a handful of locations within the national park. Protecting its habitat is a key part of Snowy Hydro’s environmental strategy for the Snowy 2.0 project.
As part of that strategy, Snowy Hydro commissioned the construction of the Tantangara Creek fish barrier, designed to prevent invasive fish species from entering the Stocky Galaxias’ habitat.
Working with Snowy Hydro in the remote alpine environment, our team constructed the barrier, upgraded access tracks and delivered temporary diversion works to safely manage creek flows while construction took place.
The completed fish barrier plays an important role in safeguarding the habitat of this native species and supporting the long-term protection of the local ecosystem.
