Background
The heritage-listed Patapinda Bridge, constructed in the 1850s and upgraded in 1927, required significant restoration due to degradation. Additionally, lead-based coatings needed to be removed and replaced for safety reasons.
Leed was engaged to restore the bridge to comply with its heritage listing, using materials that matched the original structure.
Through close collaboration with the council, Leed eliminated several hold points, saving time and money. Additionally, excavated riverbed material was repurposed for construction, further reducing costs and environmental impact.
The successful restoration ensures the Patapinda Bridge will continue serving the community for decades to come.
