Background

This project transformed a key transport corridor in regional South Australia, enabling double road trains to safely access the route. Delivered as part of the Commonwealth Government’s Road Infrastructure Stimulus Package, it supported local economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upgrades at Reedy Creek Bridge (Mannum Road), Marne River Bridge (Ridley Road), and Saunders Creek Bridge (Ridley Road) included widening the bridges, enhancing barrier protection, and installing upgraded guard rail systems, along with resurfacing works.

Outcomes

These improvements offer oversized vehicles a safer and more efficient alternative to the South Eastern Freeway, boosting road safety, freight productivity, and network reliability.

In addition, Leed upgraded barrier protection and guard rail systems at multiple locations, including Ridley Road, Pine Hut Creek Bridge, Boundary Creek, and Milendella Creek Bridge, further enhancing safety and efficiency across the region.
