Background

The township of Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills is anticipated to become South Australia’s second-largest city. Recent and forecast population growth has necessitated delivering new and upgraded infrastructure. Mount Barker District Council identified the need for improvements to its wastewater network, which includes the design and construction of a new sewer trunk main and a new inlet pump station.

Leed was the head contractor for this important project, involving the construction of approximately 1km of new wastewater pipeline and a 11m deep excavation for the pump station.

Key components of the project included:

  • Deep excavations for large-diameter sewer pipes and pump station
  • Integration and connection into the new works within an existing active sewer network
  • Twin pump stations with 4 x 55kW pumps installed
