Background
The Laanecoorie Weir system was originally built in 1891 and is the second oldest dam in Victoria. It supplies water to residential and commercial users in the townships of Laanecoorie, Tarnagulla, Dunolly and Bealiba.
The dam required a safety upgrade to:
- address inadequacy of the spillway to cope with large floods
- rectify instability of the downstream left‐hand gravity concrete training wall under earthquake loading
- install piping through earthen embankment at the interface with the left-hand gravity concrete training wall
