Katherine overpasses (ADrail)

Katherine overpasses, Stuart Highway, Alice Springs to Darwin Railway Project (ADrail)

Client: ADrail
Location: Katherine Northern Territory
Year: 2001

The construction of two rail overpasses near Katherine, one over the Stuart Highway, the other over Victoria Highway as part of the billion dollar Alice Springs to Darwin Railway project undertaken by the ADrail Consortium.

The material used to construct the approach roads and spill through abutments was naturally occurring lateritic rock won from local borrow pits. All traffic was diverted on to new sealed diversion roads away from the construction area.

It was necessary to undertake works around operation rail line and comply with rail way procedures.

All works were undertaken to ADrail project procedures and NT Road Authority approvals.
