GAP Recycled Water Project

Leed are proud to announce two great wins for the GAP project - the Civil Construction Federation’s 2010 Earth Award in Category 4 (Project value between $20 and $75 million), and the 2010 South Australian Engineering Excellence Awards in the Infrastructure Projects category.
Leed was a partner in the CityGreen Alliance comprising SA Water, Leed Engineering and Construction, Leighton Contractors, Guidera O’Connor and United Water. The Alliance partners worked collaboratively to deliver this innovative legacy solution to South Australia’s water crisis.
The GAP project provides a sustainable long-term solution for watering the parklands by reducing dependence on other water sources including the River Murray and decreasing the amount of treated wastewater discharged to Gulf St Vincent. It also provides the opportunity to extend the use of recycled water to new customers in the city and along the pipeline route.
SA Water Chief Operating Officer John Ringham said of the GAP, “the project has been highly successful and exceeded our original requirements”.
The project was delivered 4 months ahead of schedule, and will provide ongoing revenue for SA Water as well as a reduced expenditure for recycled water customers, resulting in a win-win for all parties. Additionally, the GAP project will ensure our beautiful city’s parklands will remain green, regardless of water restrictions, for generations to come.
