Leed are proud to announce our wins for the Engineers Australia South Australian 2007 Engineering Excellence Award for Reports, Procedures and System category and overall South Australian 2007 Malcolm Kinnaird Engineering Excellence Award
Leed was a key partner in the AdelaideConnect team (a consortium of Leed Engineering & Construction, Thiess, the Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI), PB, HASSELL and Kath Moore & Associates). The consortium members worked collaboratively to implement this vital $60 million+ infrastructure project during the highly successful Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) stage.
The Gallipoli Underpass challenged conventional design principles to achieve innovative solutions that demonstrated significant value for money within the constraints of a tight budget.
With more than 40,000 motorists using South Road and more than 50,000 using Anzac Highway daily, it was crucial that the project ensured minimal impacts to traffic flows during construction of the north-south corridor. Now open to traffic, the underpass has relieved congestion at one of Adelaide’s busiest intersections, resulting in shorter travel times for motorists.
The ECI incentives were shared equally between client, designer and contractor, so design brief changes were targeted at achieving ‘best for project’ outcomes, rather than competing for variations to ‘profit’ from the other parties, as in traditional delivery models.
Our collaborative ECI procurement and delivery model ensured the best result for client, designer and contractor alike, and we are pleased it has been recognised by our industry as a benchmark for excellence through the Engineering Excellence Awards.
