Gallipoli Underpass
Tuesday, March 31, 2009
The South Australian Government says the new $118 million South Road Underpass will be named the ‘Gallipoli Underpass’ in recognition of the ANZAC tradition.
According to the government, ‘Gallipoli Underpass’ was agreed upon by the South Australian Government in consultation with Australia’s ex-service organisations through the recently-established Veterans Advisory Council. South Australian Premier Mike Rann says the naming will further reinforce and promote ANZAC Highway’s historic links with South Australia’s service men and women.
The first official passage through Gallipoli Underpass was made by the students of Black Forest and Richmond Primary Schools, dressed in specially made car costumes.
Key milestones reached to date on the project include:
-
Demolition Dec 2007
-

-
