Lake Manchester Dam Upgrade

Monday, March 10, 2008

The work at Manchester involved constructing a new concrete spillway and significant earthworks.

Leed works included the excavation of more than 80,000m3 of bulk earthworks, and the placement of the excavated material on site, as well as 30,000m3 of drilling and blasting in rock. The structure is 90 years old so specific techniques in drilling and blasting are required to protect the structure.

The project also involves the placement of 3,000m3 of concrete with associated reinforcement and formwork.
